Developmental Editing
During a developmental edit, I evaluate your manuscript with a focus on key, big-picture elements, including plot, structure, pacing and character development, offering guidance on how these can be strengthened and sharpened to bring your story to its full potential.
The service includes:
- A detailed 15–20 page edit letter.
- Two one-hour meetings. One meeting at the start of the edit to discuss your manuscript, your goals and any concerns you may have, and another meeting at the end to walk through the edit letter and answer any questions.
- In-line comments within your manuscript, offering suggestions on scenes, pacing, and areas that may benefit from further clarity or expansion.
Sensitivity Reading
I'm passionate about ensuring that people of colour (and their culture and traditions) are accurately represented in literature. I provide my expertise by offering in-line comments and a detailed report with suggestions on how to enhance the authenticity and depth of your characters' representation.

Editorial Assessment

Copy Editing
This is a sentence-level edit to flag inconsistencies, continuity, sentence flow and grammar, maintaining a consistent style throughout your manuscript.

What genres do you edit?
I edit a wide range of genres across different age categories. Some my favourites include women’s fiction, thriller & suspense, cosy mysteries and romance. I might not be the best fit for sci-fi, fantasy or horror. For non-fiction, I love memoirs and self-help.
Can you help me if I’m self-publishing?
Absolutely. I love working with authors who are self-publishing because it’s a journey I can guide you through from start to finish. I offer specialised editing packages for self-publishing authors to get your book ready for publication. My goal is to make self-publishing feel manageable and rewarding, supporting you every step of the way.
How long does the editing process take?
The timeline depends on the length and complexity of your manuscript, but I’m open to working with authors who are on tight deadlines. We’ll discuss a schedule that works for you while keeping your project on track.
What’s the best way to communicate with you during a project?
Our primary mode of communication will be through email. For developmental edits, meetings via Google Meet are included, typically at the start of the edit to discuss goals and expectations, at the end to review the edit letter, and at any point in between if you feel additional guidance or discussion would be helpful.
Can you help make a manuscript more inclusive and culturally sensitive?
As an authenticity reader, I evaluate books featuring Black and African characters to ensure that cultural representation is authentic and respectful. I also assess the use of Yoruba and Nigerian Pidgin languages, making sure dialogue and narrative voice reflect genuine speech patterns and cultural context of the communities being portrayed.
